Obituary for Addie “Sister” Moses
Addie “Sister” Moses, 85, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025. She was born on July 1, 1940, in Kershaw, South Carolina, to the late Frank Moses and the late Maggie Shields-Moses.
Raised in a Christian home, “Sister” was educated in the Lancaster County School District and graduated from Hillside High School. She was a proud member of the Eastern Star and dedicated her career to serving others, working as a Human Resource Supervisor for the City of New York until her retirement.
“Sister” was a woman of grace and quiet strength, who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading, playing cards, watching Family Feud, and relaxing at the beach. Her warm presence, wisdom, and laughter will be deeply missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Anthony Moses (Jaqueline) of Brooklyn, NY; four daughters, Charlene Moses-Beckham (Connell) of Kershaw, SC, Angela Lawson of Rock Hill, SC, Kwane Broadway and Denise Kelly-Crawford (James) both of Lancaster, SC; fifteen grandchildren, Sharissa (Francis), Shaka (Stacy), Makeda (Matthew), Kimyada, Tyreek, Trina, Karimba, Khyan, Kalethia, Octavia (Lace), Kiara, Duanell (Sonel), Keifon, Onasia, and Natural (Caleb); twenty-two great-grandchildren, Shadè, Allah “AJ”, Amari, Jaden, Adrian, Tareema, Kareem, Arianna, Jordyn, Kaylah, Tulanni, Sanai, Ariel, Josiah, Maya, Zion, Khari, Cache, Carter, Kaylanni, Ephisur, and Parker; a niece, Norma Jean Moses of Mt. Vernon, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lincoln Moses (Mary) of Waterloo, SC, Douglas Moses of Mount Vernon, NY, and Benjamin Moses (Eleanor) of Brooklyn, NY. and one sister Glady Moses-Gill (John) Des Moines, IA and a nephew, Lewis Moses.
Her life was a testament to love, dedication, and faith. Though she is gone from our sight, her spirit and legacy will remain in our hearts forever.
