Obituary for Alice McCullough White

Alice McCullough White, 85, of Chester, South Carolina, peacefully entered eternal rest on June 14, 2025. Born on March 4, 1940, in Chester County, she was the beloved daughter of the late LougeniaMcCullough and the late John Truesdale. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur White Sr., and three sons: Roosevelt White, Arthur White Jr., and Leon White.

Alice was a faithful and devoted member of Mt. Ararat AME Zion Church for nearly 70 years. Her dedication to her faith and church community was evident through her service on the Senior Choir, Usher Board, Trustee Board, Deaconess Board, Steward Board, and Pastor’s Aide Ministry. She was also an active Class Leader and a joyful contributor to the Women’s Day Ministry. Her commitment to God and her church was the cornerstone of her life.

Educated in the Chester County Public School System, Alice later retired from Grace Bleachery after many years of dedicated work. A woman of style, grace, and vibrant energy, she was known as a true fashionista. She had a passion for traveling—having amassed over one million miles in the air—shopping, dining out, exploring new places, storytelling, laughing, and singing.

Alice leaves a legacy of love, strength, and faith to her cherished family. She is survived by three daughters: Beatrice Campbell of Charlotte, NC; Brenda Williams (Jimmy) and Angela White (Mark), both of Miramar, FL; and two sons: Sylvester White (Annie) of Charlotte, NC, and Bobby Ray White (Judy) of Kershaw, SC. She is also survived by three devoted sisters: Mary Ann McCullough and Lavenia Miller (Milton) of Concord, NC, and Dianne Odom (David) of Winston-Salem, NC. Her loving daughter-in-law, Tonya White, remains a part of her enduring family circle.

Her legacy continues through twenty-two grandchildren, forty-seven great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

Alice’s radiant spirit, boundless love, and unwavering faith will forever be remembered and cherished by all who knew and loved her.

"Her children arise and call her blessed..." — Proverbs 31:28
