Audrey Eugene Curry Jr., a devoted husband, father, community leader, and friend,
passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025 at the age of 70. Born on February 8, 1954 to
the late Audrey Eugene Curry Sr. and the late Jennieve Rodgers. Audrey was a lifelong
resident of Lancaster, SC, where his dedication to family, service, and adventure left an
indelible mark on all who knew him.
Audrey was a proud graduate of Lancaster High School, Class of 1972. He was a retired
Business Service Representative for Comporium for Forty-Six dedicated years. He
further demonstrated his commitment to his community as a member of the Lancaster
County Natural Gas Authority Board and the USCL Board of Trustees. Audrey also
served with distinction as a former member of the Lancaster City Council, where his
leadership and vision inspired progress and unity.
Audrey’s adventurous spirit led him to embrace life to the fullest. He loved kayaking
along serene waters, hiking picturesque trails, and biking through scenic landscapes.
Traveling brought him joy, as did attending car shows, movies, and gun shows. Above
all, Audrey cherished time spent with his beloved family, creating memories through
shared activities and celebrations.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gwendolyn Barnes Curry, with whom he shared a
lifetime of love and partnership; his children, Lakisha M. Curry of Lancaster, SC, Brian
O. Curry of Atlanta, GA, Marvin Moore of Lancaster, SC whom he reared as his son; two
sisters, Patricia A. Brice of Lancaster, SC, Janice M. Reid (Sammy) of Rock Hill, SC,
two brothers, Tracy Curry of Monroe, NC, David Curry of Lancaster, SC, five
grandchildren, Takyra (Jerray) of Rock Hill, SC, Brandon and Taylor both of Fort Mill,
SC, Kaliana of Lancaster, SC, Bryson of Atlanta, GA, three brothers-in-law, David
Barnes, Johnny W. Barnes and Darryl Barnes all of Lancaster, SC and a host of extended
family and dear friends. Audrey was a beacon of kindness and integrity, and his presence
brought light and laughter to those around him.
Audrey was preceded in death by a son, Jason T. Curry, a brother, William B. Curry.
Audrey Eugene Curry Jr. was a man of great passion, purpose, and love, whose life was a
testament to the values of family, community, and adventure. His vibrant spirit will live
on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
