Barbara Clyburn Stradford, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and much more, peacefully transitioned from labor to reward in her home on January 23, 2025; surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 29, 1943 in Lancaster, South Carolina to the late Zeddie and Ada Clyburn.
Barbara received her education with the Lancaster County School District and retired as a self-employed Residential Cleaner.
Barbara accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She faithfully served on the Deaconess Board, Missionary Board, Usher Board, choir and several other committees.
It was in the church that she met her husband, the late Deacon Lee P. Stradford. The two shared 52 beautiful years together.
Left to cherish precious memories are; her daughters, Linda Bracey (Sam), Cathy Wells (Barry), Ann Gainey (Earl), and Shirley Cunningham; one son, Tyrone Benson. 18 Grandchildren; one grandson reared as a son, Mario Stradford; 10 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren. Three sisters, Shirley Green, Annie Clyburn, and Louise Sanders; an aunt, Olivia B. Whilett of Greensboro, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved spouse; her parents; a daughter, Brenda Stradford; a grandson, Ty'Kezius Benson; her siblings, Ralph, Ida Mae and Leroy Clyburn; a niece reared as a sibling, Mary Ingram; and a niece reared as a daughter, Pam Blair.
Barbara enjoyed spending quality time with her family, gardening, shopping, and practicing self-care; including consistent visits to the walking track or a local gym. She was also a proud member of the “Seniors on the Go” organization.
Barbara’s caretakers included, her selfless daughters, grandchildren, close friends, and Hospice of Lancaster & The Piedmont.
Barbara was a beacon of light. She kept a smile and never complained. Her wisdom, generously imparted, has blessed the lives of many. She instilled her favorite passage of scripture, Psalms 23, across many generations.
Barbara’s presence will be missed however, her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her.
