Betty Carol Ross Coffey peacefully went home to be with the Lord on January 28, 2026, at CMC Main in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was born on July 8, 1958, in Lancaster, South Carolina.
Betty was the daughter of the late Alther Mae Ross Barnette and Samuel Washington. She was united in marriage to Bobby Gene Coffey, who preceded her in death.
Betty truly enjoyed spending time with her family and cherished every moment with them. She loved shopping at thrift stores and had a passion for watching Lifetime movies and HGTV, especially enjoying shows about remodeling old homes. Betty had a caring heart and always looked out for others. She loved deeply and treasured everyone in her family.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory two sons: Ramone Tymel (Katrina) Coffey of Van Wyck, SC, and Rico Tavares (Meghann) Coffey of York, SC; two grandchildren, Aryanna Elissa Coffey and Lukas Gene Coffey of York, SC; two brothers, Javis (Monica) Barber of Lancaster, SC, and one brother, Olin (Faye) Barnette of Rock Hill, SC.
She is also survived by six sisters: Valerie Barnette and Valmer Ingram, both of Lancaster, SC; Zandra Morris (William) of Salisbury, NC; Peggy Pendergrass, Alice Pendergrass, and Ira Latta, all of Charlotte, NC; a special friend, Steve Burleson, god child,
Josiah Chapman of Charlotte, NC. three aunts, Dianna McCray of Charlotte, NC, Sue Hayden of Lancaster, SC, and Mattie Ross of Richmond, VA; five sisters-in-law, Jackie Barnette, Michelle Thompson Barnette, Anne Coffey, Darlene Barnette, and Anne Fae Barnette; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
