Betty Lou Elder McGriff peacefully entered eternal rest at her home in Lancaster, South Carolina, on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on September 25, 1933, in Heath Springs, South Carolina, Betty was the beloved daughter of the late Sam Elder and the late Blanche Creighton Elder.
At an early age, Betty dedicated her life to Christ and was a devoted member of Bright Light Missionary Baptist Church. She faithfully served on the missionary board, usher board, senior choir, and the women's choir.
Her unwavering faith and deep love for her church family were guiding principles throughout her life. She also was a proud and committed member of the Queen Elizabeth Chapter # 200 Order of the Eastern Star.
Betty received her education in the Lancaster County School system and later married the love of her life, Curtis McGriff, who proceeded her in death.
She had a strong work ethic and was a dedicated employee of Joslyn Clark Control. Even after retirement, she continued to serve her community through her work in custodial services at Mahaffey Funeral Home.
In her free time, Betty cherished moments spent with her family. Her warm smile, kind heart, and vibrant spirit touched everyone she met, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish loving memories a god son, Minister Casey Moore of Lancaster, SC, cousin, Yvette Cunningham of Lancaster, SC, the Elder and Marsh Families, and a host of other relatives and friends.
