Christine Benson peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 20, 2022 in Lancaster. SC surrounded by
family. A daughter of the late Beulah Mackey and the late Leroy Benson was born May 10, 1942 in Lancaster,
South Carolina.
Christine, as she was affectionately called, accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of New Hope
Missionary Church in Lancaster, SC. She later moved to Washington D.C. and joined Corinthian Missionary
Baptist church under the pastoral ship of Rev. RP Gainey where she was a dedicated and active member. She
was a member of the Inspirational Choir and Culinary ministry to name a few.
Christine was educated in the Lancaster County school district and was a graduate of Hillside High Class of
1959. She was employed with the Government District of Columbia Courts as a Deputy Clerk.
Christine lived her life to the fullest. She was a compassionate person with a sweet spirit. She was an avid
traveler and liked International trips. Christine enjoyed cooking, baking oatmeal chocolate cookies and sewing .
She had a heart of gold and cared for many which made her the perfect family Santa Claus. however her
greatest joy was spending time with her family that she loved to the utmost. To know her was to love her and she
was loved by all.
Left to cherish loving memories, one son, Terry Benson of Lancaster, SC, four brothers, Uylssee Benson of Ft
Washington, MD, James F. Benson, Donald Benson (Sharon), Ervin Benson (Debbie), all of Lancaster, SC, six
sisters, Dorothy Truesdale, Fay Harris, Mablean McWhirter, Jannie Griffin (Clifford) all of Lancaster, SC, four
grandchildren, Kenyell Harris (Jennifer), Nerissa Harris, Shonya McCloud (Brian), Arsenio Harris, ten great
grandchildren, one great great grandchild, aunt, Janie Powell of Smithville, TX, Sister-in-law, Ethel Benson of
Columbia Park, MD, Special Friend Henry Winfield and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Sammie Benson, David Benson, two sisters, Mary Lee Stradford,
Pauline Benson.
