Deborah Hughes Blakeney

Deborah Hughes Blakeney, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025 at the age of 49. Born on January 23, 1976 to the late James Hughes Sr and Margaret Ree Blair Hughes, she was a beloved mother, sister, friend, and a source of joy to all who knew her.

A proud graduate of Lancaster High School, Deborah went on to dedicate her career to caring for others as an employee of Piedmont Medical Center. Her compassionate spirit and warm presence left a lasting impact on both colleagues and patients alike.

Deborah had a zest for life that was unmatched. She found joy in dancing, bringing energy and rhythm to every gathering.

Known for her quick wit, playful banter, and love of "talking trash," she could always be counted on to bring laughter to any room. Her sense of humor was infectious, and she had a way of making people feel at ease with her charm and lighthearted spirit.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene Blakeney, whom she cherished deeply. Though she will be greatly missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish precious memories are her mother, Margaret Ree Blair Hughes of Lancaster, SC, three daughters, Devondra Jenkins of Fort Mill, SC, Devondrell Jenkins of Lancaster, SC, Rickemia Durham of Rock Hill, SC, two sons, Quagene Blakeney of Myrtle Beach, SC, Rickevious Durham of Rock Hill, SC, two sisters, Teresa Hughes of Fort Mill, SC, Latasha Boyd (Steven) of Lancaster, SC, a brother, James Hughes Jr. of Lancaster, SC, twelve grandchildren, three nieces, Teresa Lowery (Michael) of York SC, Keke Boyd and Ca' Myjah Boyd both of Lancaster, SC, special friend, Rodman Frazier and a host of other relatives and friends.

Deborah leaves behind a loving family, cherished friends, and a lifetime of memories filled with love, laughter, and joy.

As we celebrate her life, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will forever dance in our hearts.

Rest in peace, Deb. Your laughter, love, and light will never be forgotten.
