Our beloved Dianne B. McGriff entered eternal rest August 31, 2024, at her home
in Lancaster, South Carolina. The daughter of the late James and Mary-Alice
Blackmon was born March 15, 1953, in Lancaster, South Carolina.
Dianne graduated from Lancaster High School and furthered her studies at York
Technical College. She was a proud member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist
church where she could play the role with the choir or steal the floor as a solo
singer. Dianne worked many years at Cardinal Health where she proudly retired.
She wanted to be remembered by her smile, singing in church, her big personality
and her love for her children, grand and great-grandchildren. Dianne was a
majorette, played basketball, ran track, was a barrette dancer as well as a
cheerleader. Even though she ran track she hated it and only did it to get the cool
jacket!
Hobbies she loved: playing basketball, watching football, getting with her sisters on
Saturdays and most importantly singing with the senior choir.
Mother of Laffette, Rosalyn (Jemaar) and late Garfield A. McGriff left behind five
grandchildren (Paris, Terrance, Ariana, Myeze and Je’Mariana) and 8 great-
grandchildren (Railynn, Journi, Noah, Jahmiozion, Sha’Niya, Terrance Jr, Jayanna
and Mykhail), Also her children’s father/good friend (Garfield McGriff (Myra)). 5
sisters (Mary-Dell B. Henderson, Patricia B. Armstrong, Elaine B. Lindsay (Jerray),
Shirley B. Davis and Janice B. Ferguson) brother (Rickey Blackmon) not forgetting
the late (James Blackmon Jr. and Michael Blackmon).
