Earl Crockett, beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the age of 84. Born on September 28, 1940 to the late Clarence Crockett and the late Willie Mae Witherspoon Barnes and the late Bennie Crockett, Earl lived a life full of love, laughter, and cherished moments with family and friends. His warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit left a lasting impact on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Earl was united in holy matrimony to Annie Gaston “Cotton” Crockett who preceded him in death.
He was reared in a Christian home and was a Trustee at Mt Vernon AME Zion Church. Earl was educated in the Lancaster County School District and was a proud graduate of Barr Street High School Golden Tigers Class of 1958 where he was an outstanding football player. He was retired from Morrison Textiles after many dedicated years of service.
Earl had a deep passion for football and could often be found watching or attending games, cheering on his favorite teams especially the Carolina Panthers with boundless enthusiasm. Whether from the stands or his living room, football brought him immense joy and a sense of community with fellow fans.
An avid card player, Earl was a master of Biz Wiz, a game he loved playing with family and friends. His competitive nature and skill at the game made him a favorite at family gatherings, where laughter and friendly banter would fill the room. Playing cards wasn’t just a pastime for Earl—it was a way for him to bond with those he loved most.
More than anything, Earl treasured his family. He found his greatest joy in spending time with those closest to him, creating memories that will live on in the hearts of his loved ones. His kind heart, wisdom, and unwavering support were a guiding light for his family and friends.
Earl’s legacy of love, loyalty, and fun will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.
He leaves to cherish memories a son, Clifford Crockett (Holly) of Rock Hill, SC, two daughters, Robin Crockett (Vernon) of Great Falls,SC, Latrisha Hayden of Lancaster, SC, bonus children, Travis Crockett of Fort Lawn, SC, Eddie Crockett (Roxanne) of Columbia, SC, Tim Lineberger of Lancaster, SC, Exzedra Smith (Richard) of McConnells, SC, two brothers, Samuel Crockett and Christopher Crockett (Mary) both of Waxhaw, NC, four sisters, Barbara Jean Rainey of Gastonia, NC, Ashton Coffey (James) of Waxhaw, NC, Monica Brown (Steven) of Charlotte, NC, Emma Barksdale (Greg) of Waxhaw, NC, six grandchildren
Dondraico Johnson of Los Angeles, CA, Amanda Johnson of Fort Lawn, SC, Clifford Crockett Jr (CJ) and Carson Crockett of Rock Hill, SC, Ranico Hayden and Yakina Hayden of Lancaster, SC, three great grandchildren and a multitude of bonus grandchildren, special friends, Rayford Harris and Andrew Harris and a host of other relatives and friends.
Rest in peace, Earl. Your love for family, football, and the simple joys of life will never be forgotten. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Johnson, two bonus sons, Nathan Lineberger, Ronald Lineberger, a brother, Clarence Crockett Jr.
