Edward Lee Crawford, 73, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026. He was born on February 13, 1953, in Lancaster, South Carolina, to Clarence “Red” McMurray and the late Ida Mae Stewart. He was also lovingly raised by his stepfather, Charles O. Crawford.
Edward was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Patricia Crawford, whom he cherished deeply throughout their years together.
He received his education in the Lancaster County School System and graduated from Barr Street High School in 1970. The Barr Street High School Class of 1970 was the final graduating class before the school’s desegregation, marking an important moment in the community’s history.
Edward was a hardworking and dedicated man throughout his career. He was employed at Owen Electric Steel in Cayce, South Carolina, where he served as an Auto Shop Supervisor. When the company later became CMC Steel, he continued his service as an Instructor, sharing his knowledge and experience with others. After retiring from the steel industry, Edward continued working by driving buses for the U.S. Army.
In his leisure time, Edward enjoyed fishing, working with cars, and riding motorcycles. Known for his reliability and generous spirit, he was always there for family and friends whenever they needed him. He will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and the love he showed to those around him.
Edward leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Patricia Crawford of Cayce, South Carolina; one son, Edward Lee Crawford Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina; one daughter, Shakirah Y. Crawford of Columbia, South Carolina; three brothers, Bobbi Jean Crawford (Pat) of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Donald Crawford of Atlanta, Georgia, and Carlos Anton Lang of Lancaster, South Carolina; five sisters, Patricia Crawford of Las Vegas, Nevada, Trutelia Crawford McIntyre of Savannah, Georgia, Delores Crawford Harper (Sidney) of Indian Land, South Carolina, Nicole Lang of Lancaster, South Carolina, and Annie Anthony of Lancaster, South Carolina; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Aneedra M. Crawford; one brother, Adell Crawford; and one sister, Carleatha Lang.
Edward’s life was a testament to dedication, strength, and love for family. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
