Fred Cunningham was born on August 19, 1933 in Liberty Hill, South Carolina to Warlow B. and Margaret (Greene) Cunningham. Fred was educated in Liberty Hill Public School and Heath Springs School System. At an early age, Fred joined Rock Hill Baptist Church, in Heath Springs. Fred met and married the love of his life, Dorothy Lee Duncan on September 14, 1952 and out of this union they were blessed with five children. In 1953 Fred and Dot moved to Washington, D.C., then relocated to Patenson, New Jersey. Fred was employed by Architectural Window Manufacturing Co. in Rutherford, New Jersey, where he was a supervisor for over 40 years. He joined the Unity Missionary Church in Patenson, New Jersey under the leadership of Bishop Albert Bland. After Fred and Dot retired, they decided to relocate to Camden, South Carolina and rejoined Rock Hill Baptist Church in Heath Springs, South Carolina. After years of being steadfast in his faith and being the oldest man, he was named “Father of the Church”. Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Dorothy Lee (Duncan) Cunningham, his parents Warlow B. and Margaret Cunningham, his two brothers Warlow Jr. and Joseph Cunningham, one sister Eliza Mae Champion.
Fred was called from labor to reward at the blessed age of 90 on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 peacefully in his home.
