Hamp Junior McDow

Hamp Junior McDow passed away on January 27, 2026, in Charleston, South Carolina. He was born on December 27, 1960, in Lancaster, South Carolina, to Barbara McDow.

Hamp was a loving, kind, and generous soul who was always eager to lend a helping hand. He truly never met a stranger and was admired and loved by everyone who knew him. He found great joy in nature, especially walking and riding his bike, but his greatest passion was listening to music, eating spaghetti andspending time with family and friends. Hamp’s warmth, laughter, and caring heart will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish his precious memories are his mother, Barbara McDow Brown; his life partner, Callie Mae Martin; one sister, Kathy McDow Pringle (James Pringle), of Lancaster, SC; one daughter, Sherry Martin (fiancé, Chris Benson), of Lancaster, SC; one son, Justin Martin Ware of Lancaster, SC, one stepdaughter, Sheena Martin; grandchild , Zykiona Martin andgreat grandchild, Elani Smith , step grandchildren, Shanian Martin, Miyana Martin all of Lancaster, SC. He also leaves behind many close friends to include Peggy Martin, Jermaine Martin both of Lancaster, SC, Garnell (Abraham) Sesay of Lorton, VA, nephews, Chris Pringle and Hakeem both of Lancaster, SC, cherished stepchildren, nieces, and a host of cousins from the Reid and White families.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Kenneth Brown.
