Ida Mae Kirkland McCain, affectionately known as "Mae”
entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 4. 2025, in Lancaster, South Carolina. She was born on April 2, 1955, the beloved daughter of the late Willie J. Kirkland and the late Rose L. Coleman Kirkland.
Mae was a devoted member of Sandhill Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully accepted and fulfilled her duties as a responsible and committed member. She received her education in the Lancaster County School District and proudly graduated from Lancaster High School in 1973.
Mae lived a vibrant and joy-filled life. She enjoyed traveling, decorating, dancing, painting and gardening.
However, her greatest passion was spending time in the company of her family and friendsthose moments brought her the deepest joy.
Left to cherish her fond memories are one son, Darrell C. Kirkland (Gwynette) of Lancaster, SC; one daughter, Shanika Nichole McCain of Lancaster, SC; four brothers, Bobby Ray Kirkland (Carenthia), Bernard Truesdale (Roslyn), and Marlo Curry, all of Lancaster, SC, and Joe Truesdale of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Dorothy K. Cunningham (Ronald) of Knoxville, TN, and Angel Shannon (Tim) of Lancaster, SC; nine grandchildren; nine great -grandchildren; a special aunt, Mary Estell Hewlin; a special brother, Randy Kirkland; and special sisters, Debra J. Ealey and Evelyn "Dot" Elder. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
Mae was preceded in death by her brothers: Michael Kirkland, William Earl Kirkland, and Stanley Anthony.
Mae's warm spirit, gentle presence, and unwavering love will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her.
