James J. “Che-Ko” Carter , 77 , died Sunday, September  10, 2023, Funeral Service  Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. Crawford Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Ricky Mingo will officiate, Viewing Saturday,  September 16, 2023 from 1:00-5:00 PM Crawford Funeral Home.

James J. “Che-Ko  Carter”, a son of the late  Jessie Lee Carter and reared by Cole Eli Jackson and Leola Jackson was born March 23, 1946  in Lancaster, SC.  

He was married to Angela McIlwain Carter.

Survivors include, his wife of Lancaster, SC, five sons, Spencer Carter of Belleville, Illinois, James Carter (Martina) of Columbia, SC, George Carter of Heath Springs, SC, SAntonio Catoe of Greenville, NC, Shane Carter (Nicole) of Rock Hill, SC, six daughters, Melvene McMillon (Charles), Joyce Kirkland (Robert), Janice Totten (Greg), Belinda Carter, Nakista Catoe all of Lancaster, SC, Robin Villasencio (Adriano) of Elgin, SC, one sister, Teresa Cunningham of Lancaster, SC, mother-in-law, Bernice McIlwain of Lancaster, SC, twenty three grandchildren, four great grandchildren.
