James McGill Jr. Obituary

On February 26, 2025, James Thomas McGill, Jr “JT” God opened the gates of Heaven and welcome him in.

James Jr, James, “RC”, or “JT” whom ever you called him he would answer with that smile and distinguish voice “what you want” or “Yeah”. James “JT” was loved by the Lancaster community and was received with open arms from all the local residents and business. James never met a stranger, and his presence was always filled with love, joy and laughter.

James Jr. was born on October 20, 1969, in Monroe, NC. He was the beloved son to the late James Thomas McGill Sr. and late Drucilla “Polk” McGill. He was educated in the Monroe Public schools and graduate with a Basic Life Certificate for the disable, a Life Training Diploma from Winchester Community Center and later completed the Greater Fatherhood Project in Lancaster SC.

James Jr “JT”, worked in numerous fields of employment throughout the years and processed a strong work ethic. However, James Jr.’s final and greatest employment was that of detailing automobiles. This was his profession. You could see him daily at Parker Auto Care open to close. His passion and love for this gave him a purpose in life.

Above all, James Jr. was a true believer! A born-again Christian!James Jr. was a faithful member of the Grace Free Will Baptist Church in Lancaster SC. “JT” would attend and participate all events and services at the church. James Jr was truly a devotedGod-fearing man with a heart of compassion for all others. Thiswas James Jr second passion if not the 1st living for the Lord. His heart was larger than life and his praise and worship for the Lord was unmatched. He would often light up just talking about the Goodness of the Lord as he would always say “I’m blessed”

James Jr. “JT” sense of humor was always present and his dedication to work was the driving force in his life with his faith. However, the love he had for his son Jacob and his life companion Patricia will forever be the greatest love story never told. The love that James Jr. had for Jacob will never be duplicated because this was his sole purpose of inspiration in life. What James Jr. lacked in mental and learning abilities, he overachieved in greatness through love and affection for others. This could be seen faithfully each Sunday between church services where you would find James Jr. at the corner store sharing his love for life and the Lord usually with a brim on…he loved his hats and that RC soda with a moon pie thus the other nickname “RC”

James Jr. leaves to cherish his memory his pride and joy son Jacob Johnson of Lancaster, SC, Life Companion Patricia Johnson of Lancaster, SC, a brother Darrell “Tank” Polk and wife Carol Polk of Smyrna, TN, 2 nephews Japheth Polk of Smyrna, TN, Jaukee and wife Katie Polk of Jacksonville , Fl, 3 nieces Crystal Rushing of Indian Trial, Sherelle Rivers of Wake Forest, NC, Sherese Rivers of Monroe, NC, 2 great nieces Samyria Douglas and Her’Monii Blackmon both of Indian trial, NC, 1 great-great niece Majesty Autry of Indian Trial, NC, 1 great nephew Cyrus Polk of Jacksonville, FL, Lifetime Caregiver James Pringle (second brother) of Lancaster, SC, special lifetime friend employee Johnny Parker of Lancaster, SC, the Polk family, Grace Free Will Baptist Church (second Family) of Lancaster SC, and a host of cousins, uncles, aunts, family and friends whom he loved.

James Jr. was preceded in death by father James Thomas McGillSr, mother Paulin “Drucilla” Polk and brother Donnell Polk

James “JT” embraced life to the fullest and lived it with love, kindness, and joy. He will be missed by many, loved by all, cherished by family and friends, and remember forever by all that encounter him. He received his place in the bosom of our Lord and gained forever peace. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of warmth and generosity will forever be in our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace
