Our beloved Jamya Mondre’ Stover, son of Andrea Stover and Lynette Champion Stover was born on January 11, 1981, in Lancaster, South Carolina and bowed to God’s will and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 11:11 PM surround by the love of his family. The timing was significant because 11 was his favorite number and the signature brand of his hoodies and t-shirts.
Jamya was raised in a Christian home and attended Mt. Nebo Baptist Church during his early years and was a member of the youth choir and served on the usher board.
He was educated in the Lancaster County School District and graduated from Lancaster High School Class of 1999. Jamya played recreation baseball during his youth and football and basketball in high school. He attended South Carolina State University and York Technical College where he studied electrical engineering. Jamya worked for Ipex USA as a machine mechanic.
Jamya was our “Superman” because he was there for whatever his family needed. He had many skills and talents including vehicle mechanic, electrician, entrepreneur, barber, song lyricist and music producer. He founded “LaydBack Music Group” and recorded five albums under the name of J Chill “Practice, One Eleven, Painting Pictures, The Capricorn and Vibrating High”. Jamya loved his family, his dog Eleven and was a devoted friend to many. He was the coolest, chillest, most laid back, no nonsense person you could ever meet. He will be truly missed but not forgotten by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish warm and loving memories are his parents, Andrea Stover and Lynette Champion Stover of Lancaster, SC, one brother, Rico (Takeila) Montgomery of Lexington, SC, three sisters, LaNisha (Jeremy) Blair, NaTasha Stover and KaQuisha Stover all of Lancaster, SC, adoptive grandparents, Zan and Mary McGriff of Lancaster, SC, special nieces and nephew, DeAsia, KaSyah, KaLeya and Britain, many devoted friends including Ricky Ricks, Chris McDow, and VarcusHayden, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
