Deacon Jerry Mingo, faithful man of God, ascended to his Heavenly home December 27, 2024 surrounded by loved ones.Jerry was born March 30, 1931 to the late Sallie Shropshire Mingo and the late Hazel Mingo in Kershaw, South Carolina. Jerry dearly loved the Lord and dedicated his entire life to serve Him faithfully and make a difference in the lives of others. He was a faithful member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Jerry was married to the late Linda Mae Funderburk Mingo and they shared an inseparable bond of love for seventy one years.
Upon retirement from Springs Industries and Morningside Assisted Living, Jerry enjoyed being a personal driver, cutting grass and spending quality time with family and friends. Jerry loved everyone and enjoyed sharing stories with laughter to brighten up their day. He always had a song in his heart and loved praising His Lord to uplift their spirit. One of his favorite places to vacation was Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Jerry’s humble and kind heart, strong faith in God, enduring love and dedication to family and loved ones are his greatest legacy and will live forever in the hearts of everyone he touched to the glory of God!
Children: Mary Mingo (Jon Griffin) Jerry Lynn Mingo, Sally Mingo Tucker, Ricky Mingo, Esther Kennedy (Brice), and Darrell Mingo. Brothers: Hazel Mingo (Mattie) and Johnnie Mingo, Sisters: Hattie Ealey, Mamie Truesdale and Gennell Cauthen. Grandchildren: Rica Jones, Jeremiah Tucker, Willie Barnes, Yanique Fontenot (Shane Dyckes), Quinten Tucker, Dr. Lauren Tucker, Petty Officer 1st Class Demarcus Tucker Jr, US Navy, Ryan Kennedy (Tiffany)
Great Grandchildren: Khilen Woodley, Zion Fontenot, Judah Brown, Zoe Brown, Cameron Kennedy, Kylee Kennedy, Amiya Barnes, Tyshee Barnes, and Adriauana Barnes
A host of neices, nephews, loved ones and friends will cherish precious memories in their hearts forever.
Jerry was preceded in death by his loving wife Linda Mae Funderburk Mingo, father Hazel Mingo, mother Sallie Shropshire Mingo, sisters Gladys Robinson and Barbara Mingo, brothers Gilmore Mingo and Curtis Mingo, grandson Darrell Montrey Mingo.
