Johnny Clyburn, age 73, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in Lancaster, South Carolina. He was born on February 23, 1952, to the late Clifford Clyburn and the late Gladys Mayo Clyburn.
Johnny was educated in the Lancaster County School District and was a proud graduate of Barr Street High School, where he was a member of the Golden Tigers. He was a faithful member of Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church, where he served dutifully as a Trustee.
For many years, Johnny was employed with Springs Industries, where he worked with dedication and commitment. He also was an entrepreneur of many smalli businesses. Known for his warm presence and love for sports, Johnny was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and rarely missed a game.
He was united in marriage to Betty Johnson Clyburn, and together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and love.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: his devoted wife, Betty Johnson Clyburn of the home; two daughters, Shenero Clyburn and Johnitha Clyburn, both of Lancaster, SC; two sons, Tito Clyburn and Tarek Clyburn, both of Lancaster, SC; a goddaughter, Patricia McCoy of Lancaster, SC; two godsons, Wilbert Clyburn (Sonji) of Hope Mills, NC and Ceasal Clyburn of Philadelphia; two sisters, Daisy Mills (James) of Matthews, NC, and Louise Belton (Curtis) of Lancaster, SC; thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Gladys Clybum, three sisters, Annabelle Cunningham (David), Emma Watts (Will), Ruth Clybum, two brothers, Clarence and James Clyburn
Johnny will be remembered for his kind heart, dedication to his community and church, his deep love for his family, and his infectious smile that could light up a room.
