On Saturday, May 8, 1982, Justin Devoy Fisher was born in Lancaster, South Carolina, to Donald Fisher and Wesley Carter (then Wesley Carter Fisher). From the very beginning, Justin was deeply loved. He was the only son of his mother, Wesley Carter, and before anything else, he was her child. That bond, rooted in love, memory, and connection, will never be broken.
Justin transitioned from this life on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
Justin was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System and graduated from North Mecklenburg High School in 2000. He later attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Justin served in the United States Army for five years, and following his military service, he worked in construction, using his hands and skills to build and contribute in meaningful ways.
Justin was a writer, a musician, and a thinker. He saw the world in a way that was thoughtful, expressive, and uniquely his own. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking, simple yet meaningful activities that reflected his connection to life and to others.
Beyond his talents, Justin had a quiet way of showing love. When his mother experienced the loss of her own mother, Justin never left her side. He sat with her in silence, allowing her space to grieve while offering a steady and compassionate presence. In another cherished memory, Justin invited his mother and sisters to his home, where he prepared dinner and thoughtfully organized crafts for them to enjoy together. It was a simple gathering, but it reflected his heart, his intention, and his love for his family.
Justin's life was one of depth, humanity, and experience. He carried both strength and struggle, and through it all, he remained deserving of love, compassion, and grace.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Wesley Carter; his sisters, Jessica Elyse Carter (Jason Bethea), Jules Wesley Carter (Brandon Lewis), and JonSavannah Logan Carter; his niece, James Elyse Bethea; his nephew, Jason Jamir Bethea Il; his grandmother, Mrs. Eunice Williams; his granduncle, Mr. Claude Herring; his grandaunt, Mrs. Pearl Herring; and a host of aunts, cousins, and others who loved him dearly.
Justin was deeply loved, and that love remains.
Though our hearts are heavy, we hold on to the memories, the moments, and the love that will never leave us. May he rest in peace.
