Lafayette Lindsay Jr. humbly bowed to God’s will and quietly entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 8th, 2023. The son of Lafayette Lindsay Sr. and the late Mary Elizabeth Cureton Lindsay was born in Lancaster, South Carolina on March 20th, 1970.
At an early age Lafayette attended church at Steele Hill A.M.E. Zion. with his grandmother, the late Nettie Lindsay. Until the time of his death, Lafayette referred to the Lord as “The Good Master” and acknowledged his belief in and thankfulness to God for bringing him this far.
Lafayette was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School District. Throughout his time of employment, Lafayette held the position of a concrete finisher. Prior to his illness, he also worked in several restaurants.
Lafayette enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Fishing with his uncles, cookouts with his family, cooking, and listening to music held his interest as well. Lafayette was funny and considered himself to be a comedian. He was kindhearted and enjoyed life. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Left to cherish fond memories are his father, Lafayette Lindsay Sr. of Lancaster, SC, one brother, Lewis Excell Cureton of Pineville, NC, one sister, Shannon Lindsay of Lancaster, SC, one niece, Melonie Lindsay of Charlotte, NC. Lafayette spent the last twenty-eight years with his life companion, Paula Monaghan who always cared for him, especially during his illness. Despite the many appointments, extended stays in the hospital, so many times of the unknown, trials, and obstacles, Paula was there. Lafayette’s family would like to thank her for her dedication. Lafayette’s uncles, aunts, other family members and friends will continue to hold the fond memories in their hearts.
