Leroy Hood

Mr. Leroy Hood, 82, of Lancaster, South Carolina, departed this life on Tuesday, August 27, 2025. He was born on July 11, 1943, in Lancaster to the late David Everett Hood and Maggie Bell Watts. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mrs. Luegean Hood; a sister, Mildred Reeves; and three brothers, Willie Everette Hood, John David Hood, and Henry Lynn Hood.

Leroy was educated in Lancaster County and graduated from Barr Street High School. He furthered his studies at Denmark Technical School and Clinton College. A man of faith, he was a devoted member and Deacon of First United Presbyterian Church, where he served faithfully.

Leroy was well known for his entrepreneurial spirit and craftsmanship. He was the proud owner of Hood's Masonry, where he worked diligently for many years, leaving a legacy of quality and dedication. He also enjoyed farming, fishing, and using his hands in various craftsman projects. Leroy was a member of the Masonic fraternity and took great pride in his work and community involvement.

Above all, Leroy cherished spending time with his family, His presence brought warmth, laughter, and love to every gathering.

He leaves to cherish his memory four sons, Larry Damell Hood of Arizona, Ricky Devonne Hood (Cynthia) and Tony Anthony Rico Hood (Shalonda), both of Lancaster, SC, and Bobby Massey of Mineral Springs, NC; one daughter, Sharon Yvette Witherspoon of Lancaster, SC; one sister, Maggie Twitty (Pete) of Lancaster, SC; twelve grandchildren; three greal-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, and dear friends.

Leroy's life was a testimony of hard work, faith, and love for family. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew him.
