Lewis J. Shields, lovingly known as "Gary," passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, at the age of 72, surrounded by his cherished family.
The son of the late Henry Lewis Shields and the late Nannie M. Mungo was born on June 8, 1952, in Lancaster, SC.
Gary brought joy and warmth to everyone he encountered. A man of many talents and passions, he was known for his craftsmanship in leather making, creating beautiful pieces that reflected his skill and attention to detail.
He was a trustee for Oakridge Baptist Church and also participated in the Men's Ministry and the gospel choir. He was a graduate of Hillside High School and retired from Springs Industries as a Machine Operator.
Gary's love of dancing was infectious, and he could light up any room with his energy and rhythm. Whether it was a formal gathering or a casual get-together, he took great joy in sharing the dance floor with loved ones. Above all, Gary found his greatest happiness in spending time with his family and friends. He valued connection, laughter, and the simple moments that brought everyone closer together.
