Life & Legacy of Love
Linda Mae Funderburk Mingo
Linda Mae Funderburk Mingo, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister rested from her earthly cares surrounded by her loving family at home on April 20, 2024 as she set her eyes on herHeavenly home where she is now resting peacefully with her LORD and Savior Jesus Christ.
Linda was graced with life on June 1, 1937 in Lancaster, South Carolina to the late Esther Lee Funderburk and late Eddie Clyburn. She was blessed to be raised in the home of her grandparents, the late Ellison and Bertha Blakeney and her stepfather the late James Patterson.
Linda loved the Lord and accepted Christ as her Savior early in life as a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church and she continued to grow strong in faith as a young woman. Later in life, she joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she considered it an honor to serve faithfully on the Senior Missionary Board, Deaconess Board, Senior Usher Board and as the Church Florist.
Linda met the love of her life Jerry Mingo as she went to draw water from the community well one day. They were married on May 3, 1953 and God blessed them with six children who they raised to know God early. "Honeybunch" and "Honey" as they affectionately called each other were inseparable and they enjoyed attending church, family reunions, vacations to Myrtle Beach, SC, visiting friends and spending time with family.
Their love has endured the test of time for 71 wonderful years which is a testimony of God's abundant grace and mercy.
Linda was educated in Lancaster County Schools and employed as a textile worker with Tic Tac and Springs Mill Industries. She would later retire to become Jerry's #1 Supervisor at home and follow her true passion as a homemaker, mother and grandmother which she did beautifully and loved with her whole heart.
She was graced with many gifts and talents including sewing, gardening, ceramics, beautiful floral arrangements and a variety of shopping excursions including the annual Sun City Yard Sale which was her one of her absolute favorites! She loved cooking and baking all kinds of delicious meals and desserts with more than enough to share with others. She was the "queen" of corn bread dressing, vegetable soup, sweet potato pies and red velvet cake to name a few of her mouthwateringdishes. She enjoyed the beauty of nature such as watching Hummingbirds and Blue Birds, watering her beautiful flowers, and anything Pink which was her favorite color!
Linda loved people and was a natural leader so much that God inspired her to become Founder and President of "Ladies On The Go" to fellowship with other Christian women. She also was a member of the "Seniors on the Go" organization.
Linda was a woman of strong faith, steadfast love and abundant grace which she freely shared with everyone she met. Her joyful heart and infectious smile could
brighten up any day and her gentle and kind spirit has left a lasting impression on the hearts of all who knew and loved her dearly.
Linda's legacy of love will live on through the lives and memories of her loved ones who will always cherish how her inner beauty far surpassed her outward beauty.
"Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised! "HALLELUJAH LORD!!"
Left to cherish the beautiful memories in their hearts forever are:
Her faithful and beloved husband Jerry Mingo.
