Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at 2:00 P.M., Crawford Funeral Home Chapel , Burial in the Mt. Calvary AME Zion Church Cemetery, Rev. James Scott will Officiate.
Mrs. Linda T. Myers, age 69, of 424 Hampton Road, transitioned to be
with the Lord on Thursday, June 18, 2020, at Prisma Health-Richland
Hospital, Columbia, S.C. She was born on August 16, 1950 in
Lancaster County to the late Elton Truesdale, Sr. and Ruth Ellen Reid
Truesdale.
Linda accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and
joined Mt. Calvary A.M.E. Zion church, where she was a member of
the Missionary Board, Deaconess Board, and Gospel Choir. Linda
attended the public schools of Lancaster County and was a graduate of
Barr Street High School, Class of 1968. Linda was employed as a
customer service representative for Davis Dry Cleaners and later she
became Manager of Quick as a Wink Dry cleaners. She served as the
Coordinator of the Southside Adult Family Literacy Center for a
number of years.
Linda was civic-minded and was involved in many community
activities through the years. She supported many candidates seeking
political office in the city of Lancaster. She was an avid sports fan and
volunteered through the Recreation Department as Head Coach for
Basketball, Cheerleading, and the State Farm Girls Softball. Bert, as
she was affectionally known, lived, loved and laughed during her
tenure on earth. She touched many lives and left a great impact as she
served others to the best of her ability.
Linda leaves to cherish precious memories, her son, Mario(Maheni)
Myers, of Lancaster, SC; a sister, Jean T. (Harold) Holloway, of
Anderson, SC; one granddaughter, Maricia Myers, of Lancaster,
S.C.;three nieces, Michelle (Maurice) Mingo, Shonte’ (Cahenda)
Brooks Dickens and Kimberly Holloway; a nephew, Jeremy Curry;
four aunts, Almeta Blackmon, Catherine White, Ophelia McIlwain,
and Alfreda Gaither; One uncle, Curtis (Delores) Truesdale; a sister
in Christ, Darlene Curry and many other loving relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her
husband, Sgt. Sammie L. Myers, grandson, La’Mario T. Myers,
brother, Elton Truesdale, Jr., sisters, Vivian T. Curry and Debrah
Truesdale;and one brother-in-law, Willie Lee Curry, nephews Maurice Truesdale and Marcello Truesdale.
