Lucille Hayden

Lucille McMurray Hayden, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2024 in Lancaster, SC, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of warmth, kindness, and joy. Lucille was known for her joyful spirit and love of life. She enjoyed shopping excursions, filling her days with music and singing, and spending time on the phone with friends and family, sharing laughter, advice, and stories that brightened her world and those around her.

Born on December 12, 1936 in Lancaster, SC, to the late Lucius McMurray and the late Lois McGee. Lucille's life was marked by her devotion to loved ones and her zest for each day. Her family and friends fondly remember her as a woman of grace, humor, and charm, with a voice that brought peace and happiness to many. She was apart of many church boards and choirs.

Lucille was united in holy matrimony to Willie Ed Hayden for many blissful years he preceded her in death.

She was educated in the Lancaster County School District and was a retiree of Springs Industries as an Inspector.

Lucille is survived by one daughters, Margaret Bell (Robert) of Lancaster, SC, half daughter, Jacqueline Long (Eugene) of Van Wyck, SC two grandchildren, Kenneth White of Fort Lawn, SC, Melissa Stevens (Roosevelt) of Lancaster, SC, eleven great grandchildren, fourteen great great grandchildren, special caregiver, Meredeth Dowdle and a host of other relatives and friends, she will be greatly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Wade, Josephine Ford, four brothers, C1 McGee, Joe Lewis McMurray, James McMurray, Samuel McGee, two grandsons, Nathaniel White, Christopher White.

Her warmth, laughter, and love will continue to resonate with everyone who knew her, forever in our hearts.
