Marcine Catoe Obituary

Marcine F. Catoe, affectionately known by many names—MaMe, Cine, Mascalina, NaNa, and Marcy—was born on January 29, 1939, in Lancaster, South Carolina, to the late Richard and Susie Frazier. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend whose radiant presence brought joy and comfort to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a faithful member of One Fold Church of God where her son Rev. Charles R. Catoe was her Pastor.

Marcine embodied grace, kindness, and honesty. Raised in a close-knit family, she carried with her the values of compassion, integrity, and perseverance throughout her life. Her warmth and generosity were boundless, and her gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

A devoted mother and loyal friend, Marcine found joy in life’s simple pleasures—playing bingo, cooking hearty meals for her loved ones, fishing, and sharing laughter over coffee. She was the heartbeat of her family; a woman whose love knew no limits and whose strength could move mountains. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she poured her heart into every moment spent with them.

Marcine was preceded in death by her five brothers—Richard, John, Quincy, Elmore, and James Carter—and her three sisters—Leona, Margaret, and Dot.

She leaves behind a legacy of love through her three devoted children: Cathy McGriff (Derrick), Russell Catoe (Sally), and Arlene Catoe; five cherished grandchildren: Rikethia Spencer (Daion), Lapre Catoe (Tobey), Shantay Gaither (Xzavier), Gelonda Patterson (Derrick), and Timber Jackson (Robert); fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and a dear friend, Miss Evelyn Hammond.

Marcine’s unwavering faith and resilient spirit were a beacon of light. She faced life’s trials with courage and grace, always drawing strength from her beliefs and sharing that strength with others. Her wisdom and quiet encouragement uplifted many during their darkest hours, leaving behind a legacy of hope and love.
