Margaret Alston Obituary

Margaret Ann Alston, also known as ‘Big Sister’, peacefully entered eternal rest in the presence of her family at Atrium Health in Pineville, NC. Margaret is the daughter of the late Rev. McKinley Moore, Sr. and Margaret Thompson Moore.

Margaret accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of Second Calvary Baptist Church.

Margaret was educated in the Lancaster County school system and graduated from Hillside High School in 1959. During her high school years, she was a great student earning high marks, played on the basketball team and was named Ms. Typist due to her advance skill level. She was always very proud of that! Aftergraduation, she and her sister moved to New Jersey with their brother to begin a new journey and life adventure. She took employment with Nabisco, Inc where she worked faithfully and tirelessly as a Machine Operator for 38 years until retirement. A few years after retirement, she moved back home to Lancaster and realized her dream of home ownership.

Margaret was very outgoing and never met a stranger. She loved socializing and spending time with family and friends, fishing and doing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed watching all ‘the Judge Shows’ and never missed an opportunity to give some legal advice! She had a strong personality who many, including herself, often lovingly compared to her father and with that, she was well respected and loved by everyone.

Left to cherish her loving memories are daughter and caretaker, Bridgette Walls (Frank) of Raleigh, NC and daughter, Regina Brown of Charlotte, NC, five grandchildren, Dylan Walls, Mason Walls, Kevin Brown, Eugenia Brown, Ashley Brown, 4 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her three brothers, John Lee Moore, Oliver Lee Moore and McKinley Moore, Jr. and sister, Dorothy Ann Moore.
