Mary Elizabeth Anthony Truesdale, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, was born on December 1, 1964, in Lancaster, South Carolina. She departed this life peacefully on August 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Mary was educated in the Lancaster County School System and attended Andrew Jackson High School. Known for her vibrant spirit and generous heart, she loved life and found joy in the simple things. She had a passion for the outdoors, often spending her time fishing, doing yard work, or simply enjoying nature. Mary also enjoyed shopping, playing pool, and was known to have a knack for crossword puzzles.
Family meant everything to Mary. She delighted in spending time with her nieces and nephews, always the fun and playful presence at every gathering. Her warmth, sense of humor, and kind heart will be missed deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is lovingly remembered by her two sisters, Yolanda Drakeford and Mika Stewart, both of Lancaster, SC; and two brothers, Lewis Coleman Drakeford and Melvin Bernard Drakeford, also of Lancaster, SC. Mary is also survived by two devoted aunts, Larriette Anthony and Paullet Anthony.
Her memory lives on in her cherished nieces and nephews: Coleman O’ryan Drakeford, Quintarius Drakeford, Ashanti I. Drakeford, Ivyana Elizabeth Drakeford, EmerieBlackmon, and Serenity Blackmon; and great-nephews: Cannon Drakeford, Cardar Drakeford, Zayden Drakeford, and Mason Drakeford.
She also leaves behind a host of loving cousins, relatives, and friends who will continue to celebrate her life and spirit.
Mary's time on earth was filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. Though she is no longer with us in body, her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
