Michael McKinney Obituary

Michael McKinney was born on August 24, 1968, in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. He departed this life on February 1, 2026.

Michael was the beloved son of the late Ellison McKinney and the late Nattie Mae McKinney. He was united in marriage to his devoted wife, Wanda McKinney, and together they built a life centered on love, hard work, and family.

A proud graduate of Buford High School, Michael was a hardworking and determined man. He was self-employed and the owner and operator of McKinney Grading and Trucking, a business he took great pride in. His strong work ethic was evident to everyone who knew him. His favorite saying, “Working, Working, Working!” truly reflected the way he lived his life—always striving, always providing, and always dedicated.

When he wasn’t working, Michael enjoyed the things that brought him joy. He loved drag racing, competing in pool tournaments, raising cows, and spending time with friends at his shop. He valued friendship, fellowship, and the simple pleasures of life.

Michael leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Wanda McKinney of Lancaster, South Carolina; three sons, Jason Robinson, Mickael McKinney, and MikeemMcKinney, all of Lancaster, South Carolina; two brothers, James McKinney (Cheri) of Florence, South Carolina, and Gary McKinney of Lancaster, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Kiona, Layla, Allison, Alex, Aubri, Autumn and London and two great-grandchildren, LJ and Kimaayra.

He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Louis Davis Jr. of Savannah, Georgia; Selina Nixon (Korea); Gloria Harris of Charlotte, North Carolina; Sharron Debman (Ammie) of Waxhaw, North Carolina; Stacy Cureton, Latoya Blair, and Samera Lockhart (Michael), all of Lancaster, South Carolina; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Priscilla “Peaches” McKinney.

Michael will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his tireless work ethic, his love for life, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who knew him. His legacy of hard work and devotion will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
