Minister Deloris Twitty Shannon, 75, of Lancaster, SC, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025. She was born on September 16, 1949, in Lancaster, SC, to the late Sammie Twitty, Sr., and the late Beatrice McGee Twitty.
A proud member of the Barr Street Figh School, Class of 1966, Deloris lived a life rooted in faith, service, and love. She was united in marriage to Joe Arthur Shannon, with whom she shared a strong and supportive partnership. For over 27 years, she faithfully served as a devoted member of Open Door Fellowship. Her walk with Christ led her to become an ordained minister, and her calling was clear-she loved praying for others, ministering God's word, and using her God-given gift of writing to uplift and inspire.
Deloris retired from Duracell after many years of dedicated service, but her true joy was found in spending time with her family, shopping, dining out, and sending handwritten cards filled with encouragement and love to those near and far. Her presence was radiant, and her heart was always open to give.
Her affection for red birds was more than admiration-it was symbolic of the peace and beauty she shared with the world. She touched many lives with her wisdom, laughter, and unwavering faith.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joe Arthur Shannon; son, Rodney A. Shannon (Stephanie) of Rock Hill, SC; two daughters, Michelle Lucas (Kareem) of Rock Hill, SC, and Bridget S. Mackey (Derrick) of Clover, SC; devoted sister, Joyce A. Twitty of Lancaster, SC; niece, Ki'Mya S. Twitty of Charlotte, NC; seven cherished grandchildren, Jarquise Lucas, DeBrien Shannon, Kobe Shannon, Chancellor Mackey, Madisyn Lucas, McKensye Lucas, and Kaleigh Lucas; and four beloved great-grandchildren, including Eden Grace Shannon with whom she shared a special, loving bond.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Esther E. Gaston; and brother, Samuel Twitty, Jr.
Minister Deloris Twitty Shannon's legacy is one of compassion, encouragement, and an unwavering love for God and others. Her memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew her.
