Mrs. Pearlie Mae McGriff, 81, of Lancaster, SC, peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 24, 2025. She was born on March 13, 1944, in Lancaster, South Carolina, to the late Ernest Grier and the late Nannie Mae Reed-Grier.
Pearlie was a proud graduate of Barr Street High School and was educated in the Lancaster County School District. She dedicated many years of her life as a machine operator with Springs Industries, where she was known for her hard work and steady spirit.
A devoted member of First Washington Baptist Church, Pearlie walked in her faith with humility and grace. She loved the simple pleasures of life—sitting peacefully on the porch, enjoying conversations, and spending precious time with her family. Her calm presence and steady love will be missed by all who knew her.
She was united in marriage to the late Willie McGriff Sr., and together they built a beautiful family and a lifetime of memories.
Left to cherish her memory are her four loving children: two sons, Willie McGriff Jr. and Douglas McGriff, both of Lancaster, SC; and two daughters, Monique McGriff and Johnsie Sanders, also of Lancaster, SC. She is also survived by a sister, Patricia Grier, and a brother, Ernest Grier, both of Lancaster, SC.
Her extended family includes seven sisters-in-law: Letha McGriff of Detroit, MI, Priscilla McGriff of Columbia, SC, Edith McGriff of Maryland, Judy McGriff of Killeen, TX, and Carolyn McGriff, Beatrice McGriff and Anita McGriff all of Lancaster, SC; and two brothers-in-law: Robert Lee McGriff of Chicago, IL and Charles H. McGriff of Killeen, TX.
She leaves behind ten beloved grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and a dear and special friend, Sabrina Caldwell.
Pearlie was preceded in death by her husband, Willie McGriff Sr.; a son, Robert Lee McGriff; a daughter, Ella Mae McGriff; and two brothers, Willie Lee McGriff and John Henry Grier.
Her legacy of love, strength, and family will forever live in our hearts.
