Queen E. Tucker "QT" Patterson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and woman of deep faith, entered eternal rest on August 22, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on November 3, 1944, in Lancaster, South Carolina, she was the cherished daughter of the late Bum Tucker and the late Connie Bell Harris.
She attended Hillside High School. Her love for God and His church was the foundation of her life. Queen was a devoted member of Salem AME Zion Church in Heath Springs, SC, where she led the gospel choir, served as a delegate for the Annual Conference, and was a committed member of the Missionary Team. She also served faithfully as President of the Pee Dee Conference Workers and Home Mission Team until her health began to decline.
In later years, Queen joined Throne of Grace Church in Charlotte, NC, where she served as the leader of the Senior Choir and was honored as the Mother of the Church—a role she held with love, dignity, and spiritual authority.
Affectionately known as "QT," she was well known for her passion for gospel and quartet music, her love of travel, her unwavering church attendance, and her powerful presence on the airwaves as a radio angel with the United Gospel Team on WAGL 1560 AM, formerly located in Lancaster, SC. Her radio ministry touched countless lives every Sunday morning and solidified her legacy as a true Zionite and faithful servant of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Patterson; two daughters, Jean E. Ross and Daphne A. Tucker; two sons, Joseph Tucker and Bubba Tucker; and one sister, Pearl Belton and her loving life companion J.D. Ross.
She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters: Veronica Rivers (Andre) of Monroe, NC; Shirley Tucker of Lancaster, SC; Lisa Cunningham (Earl) of Lancaster, SC; and Tammy Patterson of Heath Springs, SC. She is also survived by three sons: Brennan Patterson, James Ross, and Kendall Patterson (Sherry), all of Lancaster, SC. Two goddaughters raised as sisters, Melissa Tucker of Pageland, SC, and Shirika Flowersof Memphis, TN, also mourn her passing. She is survived by one devoted brother, Rev. Albert Tucker (Cornelia) of Heath Springs, SC, and a special nephew, Lawrence Tucker of Tampa, FL.
Queen was the proud matriarch of a large and loving family, including sixty-one grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Her legacy of faith, strength, and service will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
