The homegoing of Reverend Theresa Duncan, who was called home to glory, on January 26, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, and spiritual guide whose presence illuminated the lives of many. Born on January 9, 1954, Rev. Theresa Duncan dedicated her life to serving others with compassion, wisdom, and unwavering faith. Her journey was marked by a deep commitment to her family, community, and her calling as a devoted servant of God.
She achieved many educational achievements from attending Hill Side High School and Andrew Jackson High School to religious accomplishments with Morris College. She served with her local, state, and national NAACP, she was a part of several ministerial associations including Women Walking in Favor of God, The Association of Bethel Hill Building and Education Union. She was also a member of The Order of Eastern Star.
Theresa leaves behind her loving husband of 52 years, Reverend Thomas Duncan, who stood by her side through every joy and trial of their shared journey. Together, they exemplified the bonds of devotion and partnership that inspired those around them. She leaves behind her cherished children Stephanie Thompson (Robert Thompson), Tiffany Crockett (Charlie Crockett), Mildred Fletcher, Reginald Witherspoon and Quan Ealey, who was like a son to her. Her son Sheppard Duncan preceded her in death.
In addition, her extended family includes siblings Sally Johnson, Dianne Simpson (Willie Simpson), Brenda Anthony, Mary Anthony, Debbie Anthony, Melvin Harris, Richard Anthony (Naomi Anthony) and Artist Anthony. Her grandchildren, Kamesha Duncan, Halle Thompson, Tiffany Fletcher, Brittany Fletcher, Felicia Mungo, Trey Thompson, Malik Anderson, Samarion Duncan, Lia Thompson, Elijah Crockett, Edward Crockett, Emmanuel Crockett, and great-granddaughter(s) Mel Payne and Journei Thompson and a host of others who she raised and loved dearly. A special heartwarming and many thanks to sister-in-law, Darlene McQuiller and niece Marlene Duncan.
As a reverend, Theresa Duncan touched the hearts of many with her profound spirituality and unwavering kindness. Her ministry extended far beyond the walls of the church, reaching into the lives of those in need, offering solace to the grieving, she enjoyed feeding friends and family all while spreading hope to all who crossed her path.
May Reverend Theresa Duncan rest in eternal peace, knowing that her legacy of love and faith will endure through the ages.
