Richard D. ("Big Richard") Stewart

Mr. Richard Devauhn Stewart, 50, of Lancaster, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025. He was born on April 19, 1975, in Lancaster, SC, to Philathia Stewart and the late Rev. Richard Allen Taylor.

Richard was educated in the Lancaster County Public Schools. He was employed with Springs Industries, where he worked faithfully as a Machine Operator.

Richard was a quiet yet strong presence—gentle in spirit but powerful in character. He had a gift for singing and a deep love for both eating and cooking delicious meals. He enjoyed shopping, keeping up with the latest trends, and cheering on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles. Above all, Richard cherished time spent with his family and friends. To know him was to love him, and his kindness, style, and warm heart will be deeply missed.

Richard leaves to cherish his loving memory:
Four sons, LaKevian Duncan of St. Louis, MO, Dijon Stewart of Lancaster, SC, Romello Stewart of Lancaster, SC, and Rashard Stewart of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Deanna Martin of Columbia, SC, and Ye'Le Massey of Lancaster, SC; three brothers, Romon Stewart of Lancaster, SC, Patrick Taylor (Constance) of Lancaster, SC, and Kevon Taylor (Torey) of Lancaster, SC; two sisters, Romonda Stewart of Columbia, SC, and Jamethia Stewart of Lancaster, SC; and a bonus sister, Wanda F. Haile of Lancaster, SC.

He is also lovingly remembered by his special friends: Darrel Alexander, Octavia Allen, Bildrick Greene, Mark McIlwain, Christopher Mingo, Calvin Peay, Kenyatta Peay, DakovaShannon, David Williams and Kevin Outen.

Richard’s legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him
