“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”2 Timothy 4:7
Sallie B. Hunter White, beloved daughter of the late Sallie McCullough Hunter and the late John Lee Hunter, was born on September 14, 1951. On Friday, March 6, 2026, she entered peacefully into eternal rest at the Lancaster Convalescent Home in Lancaster, South Carolina. Surrounded by God’s grace, she transitioned from this earthly life to her heavenly home, completing her journey with the same quiet strength, faith, and dignity that she carried throughout her days.
Life Reflections
Affectionally known as Sal; she accepted Christ at an early age and became a devoted member of Bright Light Baptist Church in Heath Springs, South Carolina, where she joyfully served in the Gospel Choir. As her journey carried her to Buffalo, New York, she continued her walk with the Lord as a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was a proud graduate of Hillside High School, Class of 1969; forever a Bulldog at heart. She was a dedicated and hard worker. Sal was employed with Freezer Queen in Buffalo, New York, where she later retired after many years of service.
Sal was united in Holy Matrimony to the late John Lee White. She enjoyed the simple joys of life such as shopping, playing bingo during her stay at the Convalescent Home, and watching and cheering passionately for the New England Patriots. Above all, one of her greatest joys was spending time with family and friends, especially during cookouts filled with laughter, food, fun, and love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Clarence Hunter and Robert “C” Ingram two nephews Mitchell Ingram and Phillip Ingram
Left to cherish her precious memory is her sister, Mrs. Doris J. Cunningham. Although Sal did not have children of her own, she embraced her role as “Auntie” with pride and deep affection. She leaves behind her nieces and nephews: Derrick White (Jill), Stephanie Hailey, Leon Hunter, Fredrick Hunter, Dwayne “Bang” Hunter (Melonie), Donnie Ingram (Mary), Robert Ingram (Mable), Overseer Rosalind Wilson, Overseer Pamela Williams, James Ingram, and Alisa Parker (LaMante), Gilbert Johnson, Jeremy McCain Terrell McCain, Margaret Ingram and Wanda Ingram: along with a host of greatnieces, greatnephews, cousins, and friends.
To know Sal was to love her. Her gentle spirit, her unwavering faith, and her devotion to family will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to share in her life. Her legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to shine brightly for generations to come.
