Shakina Patterson Obituary

Shakina Keshawn Patterson

Shakina Keshawn Patterson, 42, peacefully departed her life on January 8, 2025 at MUSC Lancaster.  Shakina was born on April 7, 1982, to Delores Patterson and Roger McCain in Lancaster, SC. She grew up surrounded by the love of her family.

She attended Red Hill Baptist Church at an early age and always came back as an adult to fellowship with her church family.   She was educated in the Lancaster County School District and was a 2000 graduate of Lancaster High School.  She furthered her education at York Technical College and obtained her certification as a nurse’s assistant.  She was employed by White Oak Manor in Rock Hill, SC.

A private person by nature, Shakina found comfort and peace in her close-knit circle, yet she had a unique way of making everyone she met feel like a friend. She never met a stranger and could connect with anyone she encountered, always offering kindness, warmth, and a listening ear. Her ability to brighten a room with her smile and infectious laughter was truly one of her gifts.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved family, especially her sons, whom she cherished above all else. Whether it was a day at the beach, a quiet evening at home, or simply sharing a moment of love and laughter, Shakina was at her happiest surrounded by those she loved.

Shakina had an undeniable sense of style, and she enjoyed indulging in simple pleasures like shopping, getting her nails done, and taking care of herself. Her sense of fashion and beauty mirrored her vibrant and loving personality—always full of life, elegance, and grace.

In addition to her love for self-care, Shakina treasured family vacations, particularly those spent at the beach. The sound of the waves, the feel of the sand, and the warmth of the sun always brought out the best in her, and these moments will be remembered fondly by those fortunate enough to have shared them with her.

Shakina was a woman of great strength, kindness, and resilience. Her spirit, her love for her family, and her generosity of heart will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind her two sons, Derrick Rashid Johnson, Kingston Sincere Thompson both of Lancaster, SC who were her pride and joy, as well as a goddaughter, Makenzie Richardson of Monroe, NC, her mother, Delores Ann Patterson of Lancaster, SC, father, Roger McCain (Sheila) of Lancaster, SC, three sisters, Shakella Patterson of Indian Land, SC, La’TedraPatterson and Nicole McCain both of Lancaster, SC, god brother, Wendarius Mackey of Lancaster, SC, maternal Grandmother, Dorothy Patterson, paternal grandmother, Ruby McCain and a  host of family members and friends who will miss her deeply. Shakina, your light will never fade, and your love will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace, beautiful soul.
