Thurlow Seegers, age 79, entered eternal rest on April 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 11, 1946, to the late James “Jim” and Hester Mungo Seegers.
At an early age, Thurlow accepted Christ as his Savior and became a devoted member of Sandhill Missionary Baptist Church, where his faith remained a guiding force throughout his life.
He received his education at Hillside High School, laying the foundation for a life marked by hard work, dedication, and service.
At the tender age of 18, Thurlow found a lifelong love and partner in Patricia Ann Mackey. The two were united in holy matrimony on July 31, 1966. Their beautiful union spanned 59 years and nine months and was blessed with three children.
Thurlow began his professional career working at Springs Cotton Mill and later joined BASF, where he faithfully worked until his retirement in 2003. Never one to sit still, he went on to fulfill a lifelong dream by founding his own construction management company, Consult & Connect, Inc. Through this work, Thurlow found not just purpose, but ministry—serving others with compassion, wisdom, and integrity.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents.
Thurlow leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Patricia “Pat” Seegars; two daughters, Antionetta “Nita” Seegars Smith of Lancaster, South Carolina, and Stephanie “Smooka” Seegers Clemmons (Mel) of Woodstock, Georgia; one son, Rev. Derrick Maurice Seegars Sr. (JanElle) of Westminster, Maryland; three sisters, Deborah Ann Harrison of Savannah, Georgia, Mylesta Harris of Indian Land, South Carolina, and Earlene Wright (Hampton) of Camden, South Carolina; two brothers, John William Seegers of Kershaw, South Carolina, and James Earl Seegers (Josephine) of Savannah, Georgia.
He also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren, one cherished great-grandchild, Kennedy Iyla Minson-Smith, who was truly the apple of his eye, sister-in-law, Betty Lou Anthony and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Thurlow’s life was a testament to faith, love, and service. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
