Obituary for Timmy Lee Witherspoon
Timmy Lee Witherspoon, 62, of Lancaster, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025. Born on November 6, 1962, in Lancaster, he was the beloved son of the late Coleman Witherspoon and the late Ernestine C. Witherspoon.
A proud graduate of Lancaster High School, Class of 1982, Timmy dedicated his life to public service and protection. He served honorably in law enforcement before retiring and launching his own successful business, Witherspoon Security Investigations. His commitment to safety and justice left a lasting impact on his community.
Timmy found joy in simple pleasures—spending time at the gun range, enjoying beach trips, and cherishing family gatherings. An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he will be remembered for his strong spirit, warm smile, and deep love for his family and community.
He is survived by his seven children: six sons, Timothy Witherspoon, Marquis Witherspoon (Erica), Jamie Witherspoon (Alexandrea), Bradley Witherspoon, Chris Waiters, all of Lancaster, SC, and Zachary Lowe of Fort Worth, TX; and one daughter, TeshaunaWitherspoon of Lancaster, SC.
Also left to cherish his memory are five sisters, Susan Witherspoon, Sharon Witherspoon (Ricky), and Veronica Brooks, all of Lancaster, SC, Jackie Henderson of Brooklyn, NY, and Sylvia Richardson of Charlotte, NC; three brothers, Donald Cauthen (Patricia) of Lancaster, SC, Pomeroy Witherspoon, and June Witherspoon, both of New York; and fourteen beloved grandchildren.
Timmy was preceded in death by four sisters: Ellen W. Barnes, Patricia Hood, Susie Scott, and Marianne Beazhare; and three brothers: Bobby Witherspoon, Robert Cauthen, and Odell Witherspoon.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Lancaster City Police Department and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department for their support and friendship throughout the years.
Timmy’s life was one of service, strength, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
