Valerie Vonita Coleman, peacefully departed this life on March 21, 2026 in Lancaster, SC. Born on Valentine’s Day February 14, 1962 to the late Johnny and Mamie Lee Harris Coleman, Valerie brought a spirit of love and service to everyone she knew.
A proud 1980 graduate of Lancaster High School, Valerie spent many years as a dedicated machine operator at Springs Industries before her retirement. Her life was rooted in her faith at Cedar Creek AME Zion Church, where she served with joy in the Missionary Department, the Choir, and the Pastor’s Aide Board.
Valerie truly embraced life. Whether she was shopping, singing, are watching football or simply enjoying the company of her family and friends, her presence was a light.
She was preceded in death by one son, Quavis Coleman.
Her legacy lives on through her daughter, Shacara Coleman of Lancaster, SC, one son, Brandon Coleman of Lancaster, SC, four brothers, Patrick Coleman, Gregory Coleman, Nicholas Coleman, and Shawn Coleman, all of Lancaster, SC; three sisters, Rhonda Coleman, Brenda Caldwell, and Cynthia Coleman, all of Lancaster, SC; as well as eight grandchildren, and two granddaughters reared in the home, Da’Quajha Wade and Jaydlen Wade one great-grandchild,Harlem Eddie of Lancaster, SC a special friend, Geraldine Hamilton of Lancaster, SC, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
To know her was to love her and she was loved by many.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Russel Coleman, a sister, Linda Lorraine Coleman
