William Earl Kirkland Sr., affectionately known as "Big Earl" and "What What," passed away at the age of 64. Born in Lancaster, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Willie J. Kirkland and Rose Lee Coleman Kirkland. A proud graduate of Lancaster High School, William was a beloved member of Sand Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
William was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved watching football, spending time outdoors, and surrounding himself with family and friends. Known for his vibrant personality, he was truly the life of the party, bringing laughter and energy wherever he went.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, William E. Kirkland Jr. (Carissa) of Lancaster, SC, and Joseph Small (Kenya) of Rock Hill, SC; four brothers, Bobby Ray Kirkland (Carenthia) of Lancaster, SC, Bernard Truesdale (Rosalyn) of Lancaster, SC, Joe Truesdale of Charlotte, NC, and Marlo Curry of Lancaster, SC; three sisters, Dorothy K. Cunningham (Ronald) of Knoxville, TN, Angel Shannon (Tim) of Lancaster, SC, and Ida Mae McCain of Lancaster, SC.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Kirkland, and his beloved life companion, Linda B. Truesdale.
William Earl Kirkland Sr. will be remembered for his warm spirit, his infectious laughter, and his unwavering love for his family and friends. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of joy and togetherness will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
