Mr. William Demond Pate, 44, was born in Lancaster County, South Carolina on February 18,
1979, to Willie John King Jr. And Kathy Pate Parker. He departed this life on Tuesday,
November 28, 2023, at MUSC Health University Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina.
William or “Pate” as he was affectionately known as to friends and family. After graduating
high school, he owned and operated his own lawn care service. At an early age he attended
Crossroads Baptist Church, Kershaw, South Carolina. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed
hunting, and dog breeding. He loved dogs, especially Bulldogs and Pitbulls.
He was preceded in death by a maternal grandfather, Willie Drakeford; paternal grandfather,
Willie John King Sr.; aunts and uncles, Sarah Pate, Johnny Pate, Sherry King, and Joe King.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, his parents, Willie John (Vida) King and Kathy Pate
Parker; maternal grandmother, Serena Berford; paternal grandmother, Beulah Clyburn King;
fiancé, Samantha Ann Self, of the home; three children, Skylar Pate, Kingston Pate, and Ayonna
Pate; two stepsons, JaQuan Moore, and Jaylan Brice; three step brothers, Preston Clark, Jeremy
Pate (Lashona), and Shaheem Deionte Brown; aunts and uncles, Gordon (Rachel) Pate, Jerome
Pate, Lewis (Dedria) Ellis, Deborah Pate, Larry (Niecy) King, Leonard (Mary) King, Tommy
King, Michael (Shelby) King, Arlene K. (James) Flowers, Anita King, Howard (Darlene) King,
Shirley King, Shawn (Christa) Carelock; great aunts and uncles, Lottie Sowell, Bobby King,
Joseph (Evelyn) Clyburn; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, first cousins
group, and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at
Crossroads Baptist Church, Kershaw, South Carolina. Reverend Willie James Duncan will be
officiating the service. The visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the church and burial
will follow in the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery.
